Chhattisgarh Signs MoUs for 8,300 MW Pumped Storage Hydropower Projects
Chhattisgarh is advancing its energy strategy by signing MoUs for 28 pumped-storage hydropower units totaling 8,300 MW. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on thermal power and diversify the energy mix. Early-stage clearances are being expedited for projects across six identified locations, in partnership with central public sector undertakings such as NHPC, NTPC, THDC, and SJVN.

Chhattisgarh is initiating pumped-storage hydropower projects, signing MoUs for 28 units with a total capacity of 8,300 MW. This move aims to diversify the state's energy mix, which is currently dominated by thermal power.
The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) is fast-tracking early-stage clearances and project reports. Six locations have been identified for these projects, collaborating with NHPC, NTPC, THDC, and SJVN. Preliminary work on the projects is already underway.
