Chile Constructs 4.6 GW of Energy Storage Systems
Chile is advancing its energy infrastructure with 4,597 MW of storage systems currently under construction, part of a broader $11.7 billion investment in 138 energy projects. This development is crucial for meeting the nation's 2030 and 2050 energy storage targets, supporting the transition to renewable energy sources.

As of March 2026, Chile has 38 energy storage systems under construction, totaling 4,597 MW and 18,780 MWh, reflecting a $4.1 billion investment. The Ministry of Energy reports that the country meets its 2,000 MW storage target for 2030 and anticipates achieving the 6,000 MW target by early 2027.
Additionally, there are 53 power generation plants under construction, contributing 3,325 MW and $4.605 billion to the sector. The largest projects are located in Antofagasta, with notable solar and hybrid systems. The ongoing projects include 141 under environmental assessment, with a total value of $51.664 billion.
