Chile's BESS Paicaví Energy Storage Project Gains Environmental Approval for 150 MW Capacity
The Environmental Assessment Committee of Chile's Metropolitan Region approved the BESS Paicaví project, which will store surplus energy from the Mariscal substation. The project includes 150 containers with a capacity of 5,000 kWh each and a total investment of $90 million. Construction is set to begin on June 1, 2027, creating local jobs and enhancing grid stability.
Chile's BESS Paicaví Energy Storage Project received environmental approval from the Environmental Assessment Committee of the Metropolitan Region. It will use surplus energy from the Mariscal substation, storing it in 150 containers with a capacity of 5,000 kWh each, optimizing energy dispatch.
The project, covering 38,879 square meters, involves a $90 million investment and is expected to start construction on June 1, 2027. It will create 70 jobs during construction and three permanent positions during operation. A 0.5-kilometer high-voltage line will connect the system to the grid, enhancing energy stability and efficiency.
