China Advances Clean Energy Transition with Innovative Technologies
China is transforming its energy landscape through technological innovations, with renewable energy installations projected to exceed 50% of total capacity by 2025. Notable projects include a compressed air energy storage facility in Shandong and the world's largest offshore wind turbine.

China's renewable energy capacity is anticipated to surpass that of coal-fired power as projects like a compressed air energy storage facility in Tai'an aim to support over 200,000 households. This facility, operated by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., can store energy for eight hours and has an annual output of 460 million kilowatt-hours.
Additionally, the world's largest 26-megawatt offshore wind turbine, developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation, is set to generate 100 million kilowatt-hours annually, powering 55,000 households. The country is also establishing underwater data centers powered by offshore wind to align with increasing digital demands.
By 2030, Tai'an's energy storage capacity is expected to reach 5 million kilowatts. China's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 7 to 10 percent by 2035 emphasizes the global significance of its clean energy advancements.
