China Delivers 700+ Hydrogen Trucks, Orders 1,400 More Amid Global Market Concerns
In December 2025, China delivered over 700 hydrogen fuel cell trucks and placed orders for an additional 1,400, countering global concerns about a shrinking market for hydrogen in heavy trucking. Key developments included major deployments of mining trucks, the launch of a dedicated logistics corridor by Sinopec, and significant projects by Qingling Motors. This surge in activity starkly contrasts with the views of industry leaders like TotalEnergies' CEO Patrick Pouyanné, who noted a contraction in the hydrogen truck market.

In December 2025, China delivered over 700 hydrogen fuel cell trucks and ordered 1,400 more in a week, defying predictions of a contracting market for hydrogen in heavy trucking. Major deployments included 136-tonne mining trucks and a 1,150 km freight corridor.
Qingling Motors initiated the largest fuel cell truck project with 500 units on December 8, followed by several agreements for additional trucks and buses. China also achieved technical milestones with a hybrid mining dump truck and mass-produced liquid hydrogen trucks.
Sinopec launched a dedicated logistics corridor for hydrogen trucks, and Lüliang surpassed 1,000 operational hydrogen trucks. TotalEnergies' CEO Patrick Pouyanné described the hydrogen truck market as shrinking, contrasting sharply with China's substantial activity in the sector.
