China Develops Advanced Flexible Solar Panel Using Crystalline Silicon and Perovskite Materials
China has unveiled a flexible solar panel that combines crystalline silicon and perovskite materials to improve solar energy capture. Led by Professor Zhang Xiaohong, the research team designed a multilayered photovoltaic element that absorbs a wider spectrum of sunlight, enhancing energy conversion efficiency.
The new solar panel is aimed at providing long-term power for spacecraft, data centers, and energy-intensive infrastructure. China continues to lead in solar technology, producing over 80% of the world's solar cells and achieving significant advancements in solar cell efficiency, energy storage with lithium iron phosphate batteries, and comprehensive supply chains. Chinese firms are also actively exporting solar technologies and integrating solar energy with AI and IoT systems.
