China Imposes Export Restrictions on Semiconductor Materials to U.S.
China has announced export restrictions on key semiconductor components, including gallium, antimony, and germanium, to the U.S. This move is a response to U.S. restrictions on chip sales to Chinese companies, impacting the semiconductor supply chain significantly.

The Chinese government will restrict exports of gallium, antimony, germanium, and graphite to the U.S., effective immediately. This decision follows U.S. actions to limit chip sales to 140 companies, including Chinese firms Piotech and SiCarrier.
China produces 94% of the world's gallium and 83% of germanium, essential for various technologies. Recent data shows that shipments of germanium and gallium to the U.S. ceased this year through October. Concerns arise that China may extend its export restrictions to additional critical minerals like nickel and cobalt, although manufacturers have been stockpiling these materials amid ongoing trade tensions.
