China Launches World's Largest Compressed Air Energy Storage Facility in Jiangsu
China has launched the world's largest compressed air energy storage facility in Jiangsu, developed by Harbin Electric Corporation. With two 300-megawatt units and a total capacity of 2,400 megawatt-hours, the facility aims to generate 792 million kilowatt-hours annually, serving 600,000 households while significantly reducing coal consumption and carbon emissions. This initiative aligns with China's target of achieving over 180 gigawatts of energy storage capacity by 2027.

China has operationalized the largest compressed air energy storage facility in Jiangsu province, developed by Harbin Electric Corporation. The facility includes two 300-megawatt units with a total capacity of 2,400 megawatt-hours and 71% conversion efficiency.
It aims to generate 792 million kilowatt-hours annually, serving 600,000 households, while reducing coal consumption by 250,000 metric tons and carbon emissions by 600,000 tons. This project supports China's goal of over 180 gigawatts of energy storage capacity by 2027.
