China's Y-30 Aircraft Aims to Compete with US C-130J Transport
China's Y-30 medium-lift transport aircraft, developed by Shaanxi Aircraft Industry Corporation, strives to exceed the capabilities of the US C-130J Super Hercules. Currently in prototype stage, it completed its first flight in December 2025, with its operational status and specifications yet to be fully disclosed.

The Y-30, a new medium-lift transport aircraft from China, aims to compete with the US C-130J Super Hercules. Developed by Shaanxi Aircraft Industry Corporation, the Y-30 focuses on enhancing payload capacity, engine output, and avionics, although it has a shorter operational range than the C-130J.
The Y-30's first flight occurred in December 2025, but it remains in prototype status with no confirmed production or procurement details. The aircraft is designed to bridge the gap between China's Y-9 and Y-20 transport aircraft, optimizing airlift capabilities.
However, the lack of operational history and mission variants for the Y-30 limits its comparability to the established C-130J, which has extensive operational experience. The program's development reflects ongoing advancements in China's aerospace sector, though critical information regarding engine performance is still lacking.
