Chinese Researchers Develop Flexible Organic Battery for Wearable Electronics
STRATEGIC MINERALS
Chinese scientists have developed a flexible organic lithium-ion battery aimed at wearable electronics, capable of functioning in extreme temperatures from below freezing to 80 degrees Celsius. This battery utilizes an innovative organic cathode material, addressing safety risks and production costs associated with conventional lithium-ion batteries that use inorganic minerals.
Organic materials reduce combustion risks and offer easier recycling. The research, led by Xu Yunhua from Tianjin University and Huang Fei from South China University of Technology, was published in Nature on February 18.
