Chinese Sodium-Ion Battery Matches Tesla Performance Metrics
Hina's sodium-ion battery demonstrates comparable performance to Tesla's lithium-ion technology, indicating potential for cost-effective energy storage solutions. Further advancements are necessary to enhance low-temperature charging and overall energy density for practical applications.

Research published in Cell Reports Physical Science reveals that Hina's sodium-ion battery has achieved performance levels similar to Tesla's lithium-ion batteries. The study examined 120 cells using impedance spectroscopy, highlighting a tabless, double-aluminum current collector design that reduces resistance and promotes uniform temperature distribution.
While the sodium-ion battery shows promise, challenges remain, including lower energy density compared to lithium-ion cells and performance issues at low temperatures. Future research will focus on improving charging capabilities below 0°C and optimizing materials, particularly hard-carbon anodes. The exploration of sodium technology could lead to lower raw material costs and reduced supply chain risks.
