Chizhou Implements Low-Carbon Bamboo Processing Model
Chizhou, Anhui province, produces 2 billion bamboo straws annually, replacing 6,000 tons of plastic. The introduction of pyrolysis technology by Anhui Hongye Group enhances bamboo waste utilization, cutting emissions significantly and promoting sustainable practices.

Anhui Hongye Group has developed a pyrolysis system to process bamboo waste, increasing the company's bamboo utilization rate from 30% to over 95%. This innovation enables the processing of 50,000 tonnes of bamboo waste yearly, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7,500 tonnes and replacing about 4.8 million cubic meters of natural gas.
Chizhou's bamboo production contributes to a significant environmental impact, including a reduction of 36,000 tons of carbon emissions from the replacement of plastic products. The region's model is being replicated in 21 other bamboo-rich areas in China, promoting a low-carbon circular economy and enhancing local livelihoods through efficient processing and transportation.
