Christine Heume Receives ZEISS Young Researcher Award for Electrolyser Research

HYDROGENELECTROLYZER

Christine Heume, a doctoral student at Forschungszentrum Jülich's Institute of Energy Technologies, received the ZEISS Young Researcher Award Europe for her research on electrolyser degradation. This work is part of the H2Giga/DERIEL project, focusing on the ageing of electrolysers critical for green hydrogen production.

Heume's team utilized advanced imaging techniques to reveal microstructures in electrolyser membranes that can reduce efficiency. Concurrently, Keele University launched a green hydrogen plant using excess renewable energy, aiming to support grid balancing and research on hydrogen storage materials, while also integrating hydrogen fuel into its operations.
