Citizen Collective Opposes Ste-Sophie Copper Project in Quebec
A citizen collective, Nous Mine Pas, is actively opposing the Ste-Sophie Copper Project in Quebec, led by Richmond Hill Resources Plc. The group calls for an end to mining claims speculation in populated areas due to concerns over land degradation and water contamination.

The Nous Mine Pas collective, comprising landowners from several municipalities in Quebec, opposes the Ste-Sophie Copper Project led by Richmond Hill Resources Plc. This multinational acquired 8,700 hectares of mining claims and seeks access for exploration activities starting February, through subcontractor IOS Géosciences inc.
Local landowners express fears of irreversible impacts, including agricultural land destruction and groundwater contamination. Municipal leaders are advocating for revised territorial planning regulations to address mining rights. The collective warns unnotified landowners to verify their property status against the mining claims and refuse access if affected.
