City of Kimberley Advances Wastewater Treatment Plant Project with Key Milestones

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

The City of Kimberley has reached two crucial milestones for its Wastewater Treatment Plant project, enabling construction to proceed. The City received registration under British Columbia's Municipal Wastewater Regulation, validating its wastewater system design and environmental protections.

This registration supersedes the City’s legacy operating permit. After updating the design and site plan, Kimberley secured final funding approval. A building permit application has been submitted, with approval anticipated by late March, and construction expected to start in April 2026, with full operations planned for 2028. The project is jointly funded by the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, and the City of Kimberley.
