Claremore's Project Mustang Data Center Faces Local Opposition Amid Community Concerns
Claremore's Project Mustang, a new data center planned for the Claremore Industrial Park, faces local opposition due to concerns about transparency and the decision-making process following residents' discovery of the project. An online petition has emerged against data centers in Rogers County, reflecting ongoing community resistance similar to that encountered by the company's previous Project Atlas in Coweta. City officials maintain that the project will not impact local taxes or utility rates and will comply with regulations as it moves through the due diligence phase.

Claremore city officials have initiated Project Mustang, a new data center in Claremore Industrial Park, with the first phase expected to be completed by 2028. Residents recently became aware of the project, leading to public opposition, including an online petition against data centers in Rogers County.
Beale, the company behind Project Mustang, also developed Project Atlas in Coweta, which faced similar backlash. Local residents express concerns about transparency and the decision-making process, arguing that citizens have repeatedly voiced their opposition to data centers.
The city and Claremore Economic Development (CED) assert that the project will not raise local tax or utility rates and will adhere to local regulations. The project is in the due diligence phase and is expected to consider a Tax Increment District process before final commitments are made.
