Clearway Energy Begins Construction on 199 MW Spindle Energy Center in Colorado with Tesla Batteries

Clearway Energy Group has started construction on the Spindle Energy Center, a 199 MW energy storage system in Weld County, Colorado, using Tesla batteries. The facility will store up to 398 MWh of dispatchable power, enhancing grid reliability.
It has a long-term contract with Public Service Company of Colorado for energy dispatch. The project, costing $261 million, is financed by a consortium of banks and will create about 80 local jobs. It is expected to generate over $12 million in tax revenue and will contribute $20,000 annually to local organizations, reinforcing community support.
