Clifton Township Supervisors Approve Settlement Allowing Height Increase for Data Center Project
Clifton Township Supervisors approved a settlement with developer 1778 Rich Pike LLC, allowing a data center project to exceed local height limits by 30 feet while reducing its overall size. The project, known as 'Project Gold,' will feature three campuses with five two-story buildings, reaching heights of up to 80 feet including rooftop equipment. Local residents voiced strong opposition during a meeting, with plans to challenge the settlement in court, leaving ongoing litigation regarding the project's validity unresolved.

Clifton Township Supervisors approved a settlement with developer 1778 Rich Pike LLC, reducing the size of a proposed data center campus while allowing building heights to exceed local zoning laws by 30 feet. The project, known as 'Project Gold,' will consist of three campuses with five two-story buildings on at least seven properties in Lackawanna County, near Route 380.
The maximum height for buildings now stands at 65 feet, with total heights reaching 80 feet when including rooftop equipment. Despite the approval, local residents expressed strong opposition, with 24 speaking against it during a meeting attended by over 100 community members.
Concerns were raised over the timing of the meeting and potential litigation, as residents plan to challenge the settlement in court. The ongoing litigation regarding the project's validity remains unaffected by this agreement.
