Cloud Seeding Initiatives in Kota Tinggi to Address Water Supply Issues
Cloud seeding operations are planned in Kota Tinggi to improve water supply for over 4,000 residents facing shortages. The initiative, along with a desalination unit deployment, aims to stabilize water availability amid prolonged dry conditions.

Kota Tinggi is set to undertake cloud seeding operations over the next two days to alleviate water shortages affecting the Lok Heng water treatment plant, which serves approximately 4,000 residents. This measure follows a significant drop in water levels in Sungai Ulu Sedili, exacerbated by a dry spell lasting over two months.
Concurrently, Johor's water operator, Ranhill SAJ, is installing a desalination unit at the Lok Heng facility, projected to produce up to two million liters of treated water per day. Previous mitigation efforts, including groundwater extraction and water transfers, were hampered by limited supply and high salinity levels. The combined strategies are anticipated to restore water supply to affected communities efficiently.
