Cloverleaf Infrastructure Faces Opposition from Wisconsin Lakeshore Towns Over Data Center Development Plans
Cloverleaf Infrastructure is exploring farmland along Wisconsin's lakeshore for potential data center projects, citing proximity to the electrical grid. The company has approached landowners and towns, including Carlton, about purchasing land.
However, local officials and farmers oppose the proposals, emphasizing the importance of farmland to the community's identity. Town of Carlton chairman David Hardtke expressed concerns about the impact of large developments on the town's character.
Farmer Adam Diehl declined Cloverleaf's offer, stating that farmland is integral to their identity and legacy. While no final decisions have been made, Cloverleaf is actively seeking land in Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties.
