Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman B. Sairam met with Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney during an official visit to India to discuss partnerships in critical minerals and sustainable mining practices.

This dialogue is part of CIL's strategy to diversify beyond thermal coal and secure critical mineral supply chains. Both sides recognized the potential for deeper industry-level cooperation, supported by Government-to-Government facilitation, to establish mutually beneficial partnerships.
