Cobalt Blue Holdings Advances Kwinana Refinery Toward Final Investment Decision
Cobalt Blue Holdings and Iwatani Australia are progressing the Kwinana Cobalt Refinery toward a final investment decision, with engineering work and offtake discussions ongoing. The company is also advancing studies for the Broken Hill cobalt project and Halls Creek project.

Cobalt Blue Holdings (ASX: COB) is nearing a final investment decision for the Kwinana Cobalt Refinery, supported by ongoing engineering updates and market evaluations of cobalt sulphate samples. As of June, the company reported A$4.265 million in cash after spending A$1.226 million, indicating approximately 3.48 quarters of funding available.
The pre-feasibility study for the Broken Hill cobalt project is 80% complete, while work at Halls Creek aims to streamline development. Strategic engagement with potential offtake partners and updated pricing for the refinery are critical for project financing. Meanwhile, a flotation process for graphite recovery from battery black mass is underway with CSIRO, with results expected in the September quarter.
