Coca-Cola and PetStar Expand Recycling Plant in Mexico with $141.7 Million Investment
Coca-Cola Mexico has partnered with PetStar to expand a food-grade PET recycling plant in Toluca, Mexico. The $141.7 million investment will increase the plant's capacity to process over 123,000 tons of PET waste annually, equivalent to approximately 5.5 billion Coke bottles. This initiative is part of Coca-Cola's efforts to reduce its plastic waste and improve sustainability.

Coca-Cola Mexico and PetStar are expanding a food-grade PET recycling plant in Toluca with a $141.7 million investment. The expansion will allow the plant to process more than 123,000 tons of PET waste each year, equating to around 5.5 billion Coke bottles.
PET is a durable plastic widely used in food and beverage containers and is recyclable. The initiative aims to enhance Coca-Cola's sustainability efforts and reduce its plastic footprint. Mexico's Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources highlighted the importance of transforming waste into resources and referenced the country's new General Law on Circular Economy supporting such practices.
