A cold storage facility in Prayagraj collapsed around 1:30 PM, killing four individuals and injuring 12, including a minor. The building, owned by former MLA Ansar Ahmed, was over 25 years old and operating at full capacity with potatoes.
Rescue operations involving NDRF and SDRF teams are ongoing, as up to 40 workers may be trapped under the debris. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the deceased’s families and ₹50,000 for the injured.
Preliminary reports suggest a loud explosion preceded the collapse, possibly due to ammonia leakage. A committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
