Colt Expands Transatlantic Network Capacity with Marea Submarine Cable and New Fiber Routes

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Colt Technology Services is expanding its network between the US East Coast and Europe to accommodate increasing data traffic from AI, cloud services, and streaming. The company will utilize the Marea submarine cable, which connects Virginia Beach to Bilbao in Spain, and will lease fiber within this system to enhance its connectivity.

The expansion includes new high-bandwidth fiber routes between land stations and data centers, specifically in Ashburn, Virginia, which is known for its concentration of data centers. Colt offers optical transmission channels of 100 and 400 Gbps for end-to-end connectivity, aiming to improve capacity, redundancy, and latency for businesses operating transatlantically.
