Columbia Borough Seeks Buyer for Former McGinness Airport Site to Develop Business Park
Columbia Borough is looking for a buyer to develop the 41-acre former McGinness Airport property into a business park. The site, vacant since 1990, was acquired from the McGuinness Family Trust. The borough received a $9 million loan to prepare the site, with $2 million already utilized for compaction work. A 45-day window for bidders to submit development plans will be open from March 30 to May 15, with a preference for projects like restaurants or small shops over a data center.

Columbia Borough is actively seeking a buyer for the 41-acre former McGinness Airport site on Manor Street, which has been vacant since 1990. The borough negotiated with the McGuinness Family Trust to acquire the land, aiming to develop it into a business park that provides community benefits and jobs.
The borough secured a $9 million loan from PA Business In Our Sites, with $2 million already spent on site preparation. A 45-day bidding period for development proposals will run from March 30 to May 15, with a preference for options like restaurants or small shops over a data center. The site is ready for construction.
