Columbia County, Georgia, is evaluating three large-scale data center proposals near Interstate 20, including the Byrd Farms Technology Campus, the Pumpkin Technology Campus, and an expansion of White Oak Business Park. Supporters argue these centers will enhance economic development, while opponents raise concerns about resource consumption and potential increases in utility costs.

The Byrd Farms proposal involves 944.27 acres for an 8.1-million-square-foot facility, while the Pumpkin Technology Campus would develop 420 acres with buildings totaling over $1 billion in value. All proposals require rezoning approval, which will be discussed at the Columbia County Planning Commission meeting scheduled for January 15.
