Columbia County Planning Commission Votes Against Lowes Foods and Jiffy Lube Rezoning Requests
The Columbia County Planning Commission voted against rezoning requests for a Lowes Foods supermarket and a Jiffy Lube location. Both Intrepid Development Company and TerraForm Companies withdrew their applications due to lack of neighborhood support and the need for further project planning. The Board of Commissioners is set to make a final decision on the Lowes Foods request on March 17. Additionally, a 37-acre parcel was approved for rezoning to Data Center zoning as part of the White Oak Technology Park project.

The Columbia County Planning Commission unanimously rejected a request to rezone over three acres for a Lowes Foods supermarket and associated retail space, following withdrawal by Intrepid Development Company due to insufficient neighborhood support. The Board of Commissioners will make a final decision on the request on March 17.
Additionally, the commission disapproved TerraForm Companies' request for a Jiffy Lube and restaurants due to inadequate planning for sewer connection. TerraForm also withdrew its application for further refinement. In a separate matter, a 37-acre parcel was approved for rezoning to Data Center zoning for the White Oak Technology Park project.
