Columbiana Approves $3.5M Data Center Agreement with DigiPowerX
Columbiana City Council has finalized a $3.5 million agreement with DigiPowerX, a Bitcoin mining and data center firm. This deal includes a 12-month tax abatement aimed at facilitating infrastructure improvements in the city.

The Columbiana City Council has approved a $3.5 million community impact payment from DigiPowerX, which is transitioning from Bitcoin mining to data center operations. The agreement includes a 12-month sales and use tax abatement during construction to assist with expansion costs.
The mayor indicated that the funds could be allocated to vital infrastructure projects, such as sidewalk and road improvements. There are currently no plans for future data center expansions, supported by a city ordinance designed to protect property. The data center is projected to be operational by 2027, which could significantly influence local economic development.
