Community Concerns Raised Over Proposed Wind Project in Ashtabula County
The Lenox Township Trustees oppose a large-scale wind project by APEX Clean Energy, citing infrastructure and safety issues. A September deadline has been set for local trustees to finalize decisions regarding the wind projects in the county.

APEX Clean Energy is pursuing a large-scale wind project in eastern Ashtabula County, having signed leases with local property owners. Over 60 attendees raised concerns at a recent meeting, with township trustees, led by chair John Maylish III, expressing opposition due to infrastructure and safety worries.
The Ashtabula County Commissioners have initiated discussions on the projects, with a September deadline for township resolutions. APEX representatives, including Liam Keough, clarified that local approval is essential for project progression, emphasizing no connection to potential data center developments.
The projected tax payment for the county could reach $2.7 million, with a budget of $1.8 million for 2026. However, the permit phase is not expected to conclude until at least 2028, complicating future developments.
