Community Consultation for Hydrogen Production Plant at Haverton Hill
A community consultation event will take place on April 29 for a proposed hydrogen production facility by Protium Green Hydrogen Supply Ltd in Haverton Hill. Key concerns raised by local residents include public safety, noise levels, and environmental impacts, with five objections submitted.

Protium Green Hydrogen Supply Ltd seeks planning approval for a hydrogen production facility at Haverton Hill Industrial Estate, aiming to generate up to 1.8 tonnes of green hydrogen daily. The project, known as Pioneer 3, is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 6,000 tonnes annually, equating to the environmental benefits of planting 240,000 trees.
A community consultation is scheduled for April 29 to address local concerns, which include potential safety risks, noise pollution, and traffic impacts. The facility's operation will involve 24/7 activity with two shutdowns per year, and a minimal anticipated increase in local traffic.
Local councillors have expressed significant reservations about the project's impact on public safety and quality of life. The developer maintains that the facility will adhere to high safety standards and is committed to community engagement.
