Community-Owned Solar Battery Project Secures 80% of Funding Target
Low Carbon Hub's community investment initiative for the UK's first community-owned solar battery has raised £440,000, achieving 80% of its £500,000 target. The project, located at Ray Valley solar park, aims to enhance energy reliability and generate profits for further community sustainability efforts.

The community share offer for the UK's inaugural community-owned solar energy battery at Ray Valley solar park has reached £440,000, 80% of its £500,000 target, with over a month remaining. This battery, costing £1.8 million, will capture surplus solar energy, saving about 809 MWh annually, sufficient for approximately 300 homes, and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 102 tons each year.
The project, initiated by Low Carbon Hub, aims to make clean energy more reliable and profitable, ultimately benefiting local sustainability initiatives. Investments begin at £100, allowing community members to co-own vital energy infrastructure while promoting renewable energy use.
