Community Solar Garden Project in Pambula Utilizes Flywheel Technology for Energy Storage
The Power to the People project in Pambula aims to develop a community solar garden using flywheels for energy storage, a project led by SJASC and Pyramid Power. The initiative intends to sell stored solar energy into the grid to subsidize electricity bills for economically challenged residents of Bega Valley, potentially generating $75,000 annually. A fundraising event is scheduled for March 28 to support initial funding.

The Power to the People project in Pambula plans to establish a community solar garden utilizing flywheel technology for energy storage instead of lithium batteries. This collaboration between the Social Justice Advocates of the South Coast, Pyramid Power, and the Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club aims to harness solar energy, with a projected initial output of 40kW, scaling to 150kW.
The flywheel system is expected to generate approximately $75,000 annually, which will be used to subsidize electricity bills for vulnerable residents in the Bega Valley. A fundraising event on March 28 at the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club will support the project.
