Comtel and H2-Era Green Valley Launch Italy's First Zero-Impact Data Center
A new agreement between Comtel and H2-Era Green Valley aims to develop Italy's first green data center in Figline Valdarno. This initiative integrates renewable energy, vertical farming, and aquaculture to create a zero-impact industrial ecosystem.

Comtel and H2-Era Green Valley have signed a memorandum to develop a zero-impact data center in Figline Valdarno, utilizing an abandoned industrial area. The facility will be entirely powered by a solar park, achieving complete energy self-sufficiency.
Excess energy will be used for green hydrogen production, while the byproducts will support a closed-loop salmon farming operation. Additionally, waste heat from the data center will aid in climate control for a vertical farm, enhancing overall energy efficiency. This project represents a shift towards a circular economy model that melds digital infrastructure, energy production, and food security, potentially paving the way for sustainable industrial practices in Italy.
