Concerns Raised Over Uisce Eireann Wastewater Project in Clonea-Power
Residents of Clonea-Power have raised objections to Uisce Eireann's proposed wastewater treatment plant, citing inadequate coverage for the village. The project could impact local water quality and public health if not redesigned to include all residents.

Uisce Eireann has submitted a 10-year planning application for a new wastewater treatment plant in Clonea-Power, intended to accommodate future population growth over the next 30 years. Key issues include the exclusion of the lower portion of the village from the plant's service area and potential odour problems affecting nearby homes.
The existing treatment facility will be decommissioned due to age, and the new plant will feature a stormwater management system and constructed wetlands. Local officials and residents highlight that untreated sewage may continue to enter the river Clodiagh if the entire village is not serviced, posing risks to water quality and public health. The local authority is expected to decide on the application by May 14.
