Confindustria Advocates for Wind Energy in Liguria Amidst Renewable Energy Challenges
Confindustria Genova has updated its Position Paper on renewable energy, highlighting Liguria's lag in renewable capacity and the need for regulatory simplifications. The report emphasizes the importance of wind energy to bridge the gap in regional production and calls for urgent action to meet national energy targets by 2030.

Confindustria Genova has updated its Position Paper on renewable energy, revealing Liguria's critical status as the lowest region in Italy for installed renewable power, with only 540 MW as of 2025. The region's energy dependence, importing 75% of its needs, results in higher costs, with electricity averaging 278 €/MWh compared to 216 €/MWh in the EU.
The report highlights an objective to increase capacity by 1,059 MW by 2030, but shows only 223 MW growth from 2021-2025. Wind energy is identified as crucial, with over 400 MW of projects pending approval, which could significantly impact energy goals.
However, community concerns regarding economic and landscape impacts complicate the assessment of wind projects. Confindustria stresses the need for simplified authorization processes and efficient energy planning, particularly due to rising digitalization demands. Additionally, it proposes establishing a nuclear safety authority in Genova to bolster industrial competencies.
