Congress Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy Announces Munneru-Palair Link Canal Completion by 2027
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the completion of the ₹162.54 crore Munneru-Palair Link Canal project in Khammam is expected by January 2027. The project aims to save ₹120 crore annually in electricity costs and will stabilize irrigation for 1.38 lakh acres downstream and 40,000 acres upstream, while generating 2 MW of hydropower. Reddy emphasized the project's historical significance and the current government's commitment to irrigation development.

It will stabilize irrigation for 1.38 lakh acres downstream and 40,000 acres upstream, while also generating 2 MW of hydropower. The initiative is linked to the broader Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project, which aims to supply Godavari waters to 6.8 lakh acres. The minister highlighted the project's historic significance and the current government's commitment compared to past neglect.
