Construction of 12 Tesla Charging Bays in Longford Town Underway
Tesla is installing 12 high-powered charging bays at the N4 Axis Centre in Longford, with planning approved last September. The project includes charging units, signage, power cabinets, and a substation, amid local objections regarding safety and location.

Tesla is currently constructing 12 high-powered charging bays at the N4 Axis Centre near Longford, following planning permission granted in September. The development will feature 12 illuminated charging units, three supercharger power cabinets, and one substation, with concerns raised by local entities about the substation's proximity to their property and potential traffic hazards from signage.
Objections from Kamada & Associates and Transport Infrastructure Ireland cited risks to public safety and operational efficiency on the national road. In response, the council removed the totem signage requirement and established conditions to mitigate adverse effects on the roadway and ensure safety. The implications of the project may influence similar developments along national roads in the region.
