Construction of Motuo Hydro Power Plant Linked to Infrastructure Development in Tibet
The Motuo Hydro Power Plant project in Tibet, now commencing construction, is interconnected with significant infrastructure enhancements, including a high-speed rail link between Lhasa and Nyingchi. This development is crucial for improving access and economic growth in one of the world's most challenging environments for infrastructure projects.

The Motuo Hydro Power Plant is beginning construction in Tibet, accompanied by extensive infrastructure improvements. A high-speed rail link connecting Lhasa and Nyingchi spans 436 kilometers, with a travel time of 3 hours and 48 minutes on a bullet train reaching speeds of 160 KPH.
The route includes 47 tunnels, with a total tunnel length of 216.5 kilometers, and 118 bridges, including the Zangmu Railway Bridge, the longest span arch bridge at high altitude. Ticket prices for the train range from $9 to $63 USD across different classes. This project and its related developments could significantly impact transportation and economic activity in Tibet, enhancing regional connectivity and development.
