ContourGlobal Acquires Solar and Battery Projects in Greece to Expand Renewables Portfolio
ContourGlobal, backed by KKR, has acquired a portfolio of solar plants and 500 MW of battery energy storage projects in Greece, including 26 operational solar facilities generating approximately 51 GWh annually. This acquisition, previously owned by Quest Energy, supports Greece's transition to renewable energy, aiming for 70% renewable supply by 2030 and net electricity export status by 2026. The company also secured ownership of six battery storage projects, with the first 100 MW expected to be operational by early next year.

ContourGlobal, owned by KKR, has entered the Greek renewables market by acquiring a portfolio of solar plants and 500 MW of battery energy storage projects. The acquisition includes 26 operational solar plants with an expected annual generation of approximately 51 GWh, sufficient to power around 15,000 households in Greece for a year.
The assets were previously owned by Quest Energy. ContourGlobal also secured full ownership of six battery storage projects through transactions with Spain's FRV and Greek developer Zephiros, with the first 100 MW of storage expected to be operational by early next year. This move aligns with Greece's transition from lignite and gas to renewable energy, with a goal of 70% renewable supply by 2030 and becoming a net electricity exporter by 2026.
