Core Scientific Inc. received a $55 million building permit to construct a high-performance computing facility in Auburn, Alabama. The data center will be part of the AUBix facility, launching with 16 megawatts of capacity and potential for future expansion.

The company anticipates an initial investment of around $135 million, with total project costs expected to exceed $400 million, including contributions from partners. Core Scientific has leased the facility and intends to execute a purchase option, retaining 11 employees and planning to grow its workforce to at least 20. Brasfield & Gorrie is the lead contractor.
