Cornell Realty Proposes 500-Acre Data Center Campus in Archbald with Possible Mine Water Utilization
Cornell Realty Management LLC plans to develop a 500-acre data center campus in Archbald, Pennsylvania, featuring at least 14 two-story buildings equipped with 41 diesel generators each. The project, known as the Wildcat Ridge Data Center Campus, is still seeking an end user and requires a conditional use permit from the borough council.
The project faced significant opposition during a recent hearing, attended by local residents and officials expressing concerns about environmental impacts. The developer aims to utilize mine water to meet the projected demand of 3.3 million gallons, although water treatment will be necessary due to pollution issues.
An estimated $93 million in upgrades will be needed for water infrastructure. The campus layout complies with borough zoning laws, focusing on aesthetics and landscaping. A commercial development may also be included, potentially featuring a grocery store.
