Cortical Labs to Build AI Data Centers in Melbourne and Singapore Powered by Human Brain Cells

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Cortical Labs is developing AI data centers in Melbourne and Singapore powered by CL1 biological computers, which consist of 200,000 human neurons. These biological computers consume only 30W, significantly less than conventional silicon GPUs, which can require 600W.

Cortical Labs has partnered with DayOne to deploy up to 1,000 units in phases. Daily operations include maintaining neuron health by replenishing cerebrospinal fluid, a task currently performed by humans. The company aims to promote a more sustainable approach to computing amidst increasing AI capacity demands.
