Cowes Floating Bridge to Undergo Two-Week Maintenance
The Cowes Floating Bridge will be out of service for essential maintenance and inspections from May 5 to May 19, 2026. A launch service for foot passengers and cyclists will remain operational during this period.

From May 5 to May 19, 2026, the Cowes Floating Bridge will be unavailable for essential maintenance and safety inspections. The maintenance will include examinations of the guidewheel, hydraulics, and lifting eyes, along with a mandatory annual inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
A launch service for foot passengers and cyclists will operate daily from 05:00 to 23:00, with adjusted hours on Sundays. The bridge is scheduled to resume service at 05:00 on May 20. This closure follows a postponed March shutdown, allowing for reduced disruption during roadworks in the area. The maintenance could impact local transportation dynamics.
