Cranes Support Infrastructure Upgrades at Lake Byllesby Dam, Gavins Point Dam, and Roßwiese Reservoir
Cranes have been integral to recent infrastructure projects in the US and Austria. Boldt Construction, in partnership with Dakota County and Xcel Energy, upgraded the Lake Byllesby Dam in Minnesota, doubling its energy capacity to 4.4MW. The US Army Corps of Engineers replaced six gates at the Gavins Point Dam in South Dakota to ensure its functionality. In Austria, WOLFFKRAN and Kostmann GesmbH facilitated a reservoir clean-up project, moving 20,000 cubic meters of sediment.

Recent infrastructure upgrades in the US and Austria have highlighted the critical role of cranes. Boldt Construction, in collaboration with Dakota County and Xcel Energy, doubled the energy capacity of the Lake Byllesby Dam in Minnesota to 4.4MW.
The US Army Corps of Engineers replaced six bulkhead gates at the Gavins Point Dam in South Dakota, essential for maintaining hydropower units generating energy for over 68,000 homes. In Austria, WOLFFKRAN and Kostmann GesmbH executed a reservoir clean-up, moving nearly 20,000 cubic meters of sediment using the WOLFF 8060.25 crane. The Gavins Point project cost $4.1 million and is expected to support maintenance for the next 50 years.
