The decision follows concerns over infrastructure and regulatory needs, with a public work session planned for January 20 to address community apprehensions. Impact and health studies will be undertaken to inform future ordinances regarding data centers.

Crawford County's Board of Commissioners has enacted a 180-day moratorium on data center applications to conduct further studies and research. The decision, made unanimously during a commission meeting, aims to assess whether data center development is suitable for the county, as there are currently no applicants.
The Planning & Zoning Commission initially voted on the moratorium on December 18 but required approval from the commissioners. County officials expressed concerns over the existing infrastructure and the need for regulations to manage data center applications.
Public interest was high at the meeting, with residents voicing their apprehensions about the implications of data centers. The county will undertake impact and health studies to formulate ordinances, with a public work session scheduled for January 20 in Roberta.
