Creditas Acquires MeDirect, Plans Investment Expansion in Malta
Creditas Group acquired MeDirect in September 2025, marking a strategic entry into Malta's banking sector. The acquisition aims to introduce tailored banking services, promising faster account setup and expansion into real estate and energy sectors.

Creditas Group completed the acquisition of MeDirect in September 2025, following a regulatory process that began in December 2024. CEO Jiří Hrouda emphasized the group's interest in tailored banking services, aiming to address the needs of underbanked entrepreneurs in Malta.
The acquisition process was notably swift, taking about a year, despite regulatory scrutiny from the European Central Bank. Beyond banking, Creditas is exploring real estate investments and opportunities in the energy sector, particularly in solar, wind, and tidal energy. This strategic move may enhance competition in Malta's banking landscape, potentially reshaping sector dynamics.
