Creuse Department Launches Sovereign Data Center for Secure Digitization

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

The Creuse department has initiated a data digitization project, starting with its employees and later for users, utilizing a local data center established in 2019 by Picoty and managed by Webaxys. This facility is notable for being one of the few in France fully governed and financed by French entities, enhancing data sovereignty.

A partnership agreement was signed on January 30, 2026, to secure the department's data, initially focusing on human resources. The initiative aims to protect personal information such as addresses and bank details from unauthorized access.

Additionally, a collaboration with the public interest group Okantis is set to develop a new product for managing hospital data. The digitization process for the department's data is planned to extend over five years.
