Critical Metals Corp has named Thomas Mogensen as the new CEO of Tanbreez Mining A/S, tasked with advancing the company's rare earth initiatives. The Jonnagiri gold project in Andhra Pradesh, developed by Geomysore Services India Pvt Ltd, marks India's first private gold mining operation since Independence, projected to produce approximately 13.1 tonnes of gold and reduce annual imports of over 800 tonnes.
In parallel, Rio Tinto reported a 9% YoY increase in copper equivalent production and improved iron ore output by 13% in Q1 2026, despite challenges from cyclones. The operational enhancements and the introduction of private mining in India could reshape resource security and trade dynamics in both regions.
