CSEM Launches Dry Room Infrastructure to Boost Swiss Battery Innovation Ecosystem
CSEM has initiated a dry room facility to enhance battery cell development, crucial for next-generation technologies. This move positions Switzerland competitively in the global battery market, addressing the demand for innovative energy solutions.

CSEM's new dry room, operating at a dew point of -50 °C, supports the processing of moisture-sensitive materials like lithium, essential for advanced battery technologies. The facility includes a pilot production line for pouch cells up to 5 Ah, catering to applications in smartphones and electric vehicles.
Enhancing battery cell innovation is vital as cells significantly impact the performance, cost, and safety of energy systems. With global battery cell production concentrated in Asia, Europe is investing heavily in local capabilities, making this infrastructure strategically important. Continued regional support from entities like Banque Cantonale Neuchâteloise reinforces the initiative's potential to drive clean technology advancements and enhance Switzerland's competitiveness in the energy transition.
